The Setting
The 48th Eurovision Song Contest was held in Latvia's capital city Riga in its Skonto Hall. The massive Olympic venue is one of Latvia's most modern, multifunctional exhibition, sports and entertainment complexes with seating for 9,000.
This year's Eurovision wass dubbed a magical rendez-vous of songs, performers and viewers in Latvia - the magical land in which the laws of love are the major rule, just as they are in the majority of songs in this world. The magical encounter took place on an enormous stage that represented Planet Latvia.
The starry universe encircled the place of the encounter like a ring of light. The planet was protected by enormous arches - the arches of the heavens and the sky. They covered the stage. The glass surface under the feet of the dreamers afforded an especially magical feeling when the unusual lighting appeared. This was a fantastic flight which allowed the hosts of the evening and the audience of the concert to float away amidst the video graphics that were produced by very fine artists.
